about

Following on from the seven re-issues of accumulated material I think this is something a bit different - or I am hoping it is

Two small paragraphs of prose precede the sort of verses I usually write
The photograph of the Lady of the Rocks has been cropped for use here but it can be seen in full - along with some further information about the track - on the site at www.sosaidthesap.blogspot.co.uk

This track may become part of a selection of more recently written material

lyrics

Drawing on an earlier and well honed script the deed was neatly done The execution took place at an unexpected hour and the head fell off in a oner and rolled across the sandy beach

It stopped rolling when it came to a rock formation which depending on the light on a particular day looked like the figure of a woman reaching out with her right hand for a secure hold

The lady of the rocks
Is reaching out to me
The sun shines upon her
As she lies there by the sea

I find in her a solace
That my empty heart needs
I find in her unchanging pose
A reassurance

Seals
On a nearby rock
Make sounds like those they made
The day your ashes
Were taken by the waves

Into this deep shining ocean
Of blue and green
Changing with the light and wind
I find the change I need

The changing and unchanging
There before my eyes
To know to be surrendered to
To be internalised

But now its goodbye to the lady of the rocks
She's been lost amongst the sea weed and the sand
Perhaps never to be seen as on those early days
Of glistening seas and in the grey misty haze
Of wind and rain We may never meet again
But the memory will remain of a hand reaching out
On that sacred shore dispelling all doubt
That in my heart I'd failed to be
As stalwart and sincere
As a heart in love can be

Now taken by the sea
Reclaimed by the shore
The lady of the rocks
Exists no more
